It’s a bit shocking to get up in the morning and read that Tony Scott, director of cult classics like The Hunger, has killed himself. And yet, that is apparently what has happened: Scott is believed to have jumped from a bridge, leaving a suicide note in his car.
Scott, brother of Ridley Scott, is better known as the director of movies like Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop II, but he dabbled in science fiction and horror over his lifetime. He made Deja Vu and Enemy of the State, and worked on the upcoming adventure series Labyrinth, about finding the Holy Grail. He also contributed to the anthology series The Hunger, not related to his vampire movie.
Mostly it’s just shocking that Scott, who had an active career and a loving family, came to such a pass.
Our thoughts are with the Scott family during this difficult time.
