A press release from Columbia confirms Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) joining the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Jamie Foxx has been dropping hints for awhile that he’d be playing the villain Electro, a former lineman who gained the ability to manipulate electricity after a lightning strike. Dane DeHaan has been cast as Harry Osborn, which director Marc Webb tweeted about prior to the press release:
Foxx and DeHaan join a cast which includes Andrew Garfield as the titular Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson. The film will shoot early next year in New York with a release date set for May 2nd, 2014.
Although I will miss James Franco being all Franco in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Dane DeHaan is good casting. Anyone who’s seen Chronicle knows he has the angsty teenager thing nailed. I don’t have a joke here, so please accept these GIFs instead:
