Back in February Warner Bros. announced a new game in the Arkham series was on its way this year, and now we finally have concrete details — the game is titled Batman: Arkham Origins and due to arrive October 25th for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC.
Hit the jump for more details, some art and a short hype video…
Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel to the previous Arkham games, takes place on Christmas Eve and involves a young Batman taking on eight of the world’s deadliest assassins.
The game won’t be developed by series creators Rocksteady. Instead development has been transferred to WB Games Montreal, a new studio that’s yet to complete a game. The game’s art style looks to be closer to the upcoming Injustice: Gods Among Us than to past Arkham games. No real hint about how the game will play yet, except that it will be expanding the open world approach of Batman: Arkham City.
In addition to the main console game there’s also going to be a 2.5D platformer for the 3DS and Vita called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The handheld game is being developed by Armature Studios, a developer largely made up of people who worked on the Metroid Prime series. Hmmm, mix in a little of the NES Sunsoft Batman titles and I’m sold.
So folks, ready to get your Batman on again?
