Hey, remember that exciting single-player DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins we told you about? Were you excited? Do you own a Wii U? We’ve got some bad news for you then.
Yes, because apparently the Wii U has not gotten nearly enough kicks to the joybag, even DLC is getting canceled. That’s according to Go Nintendo, who shared this email that was sent to what were apparently the five people who bought a season pass on the Wii U:
Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U. As a result, we will be crediting the entire $19.99+tax cost of the Season Pass back to your Nintendo eShop account.
So the good news is that if you did get the season pass, you’re getting your money back. The bad news is that if you were wondering just how little support third-parties will give the Wii U at this point… well, now you’ve got your answer.
This is relatively minor, but it’s another kick to the teeth Nintendo didn’t need. It literally has just announced it’s going to start licensing out its characters and has more or less admitted they’re going to make more cheap hardware to break into emerging markets and win back players, casual and hardcore.
Nintendo might be able to lure the DLC back. For now, though, if you want to fight Mr. Freeze, you’d better have another console.
