Well, that was fast. In its opening weekend, with help from Memorial Day moviegoers, “Fast & Furious 6” sped past “The Hangover Part III” at the box office. The Vin Diesel-powered sequel scored a massive $120 million in its opening weekend, plus an additional $158 million overseas. Meanwhile, “Hangover” drew a less-than-expected $51.2 million. That battle has been won, but the “Furious” saga is far from over. Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson and more of the gang will be seen again in only a year or so in “Fast & Furious 7.” Just one question lingers: Will audiences still have a need for speed when the sequel (supposedly the first in a new trilogy) opens next summer?
As for the rest of this week’s list…
May 30, 2013

Vrooom.
2. and 3. “The Avengers 2” vs. “X-Men: Days of Future Past”
The Marvel mutant Quicksilver is being torn apart between the Marvel Studios-produced “Avengers 2” and 20th century Fox’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Which one would you rather see the character in?
4. “Mission: Impossible 5”
Tom Cruise has left “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” in order to focus on another Ethan Hunt adventure. As long as it’s a spy movie, he’s happy.
5. “Star Trek Into Darkness” (Last week: No. 2)
Is “Darkness” sexist? Naaaaahh. Now who wants to see Benedict Cumberbatch in the shower?
6. “Before Midnight”
The reunion of one of the big screen’s most beloved couples is scoring in limited release, and director Richard Linklater discusses the films’ longevity. Will there be a “Before Noon”?
7. “Expendables 3” (Last week: No. 7)
Sylvester Stallone sea that Steven Seagal is likely to join the threequel,
8. “Batman/Superman”?
It could happen, and “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill would be first in line.
9. The Cannes Film Festival (Last week: No. 1)
C’est finis. The acclaimed “Blue Is the Warmest Color” walked away with the coveted Palme d’Or, with the Coen Brothers’ “Inside Llewyn Davis” also making a strong showing.
10. “MacGruber 2”
Will Forte is writing the script for it as we speak. It should’t take too long, right?
