Tom Cruise seems to have been bitten by the music bug.
After playing a hair metal god in the upcoming musical “Rock of Ages,” Cruise may soon be seen co-starring with Beyonce in “A Star is Born.”
According to Deadline.com, the “Mission: Impossible” star is in early talks with director Clint Eastwood to co-star with Bey in the latest take on the classic formula. Earlier, Eastwood was in talks with his “J. Edgar” star Leonardo DiCaprio, and several other actors have previously been rumored to be up for the part, so don’t be too surprised if Cruise doesn’t end up in the film.
“A Star is Born” centers on a rising young music star (Beyonce) who is taken under the wing of a veteran performer, just as his own star is beginning to wane.
The film, previously delayed by Beyonce’s pregnancy, would be a tough fit for the busy Cruise, who is currently shooting the sci-fi film “Oblivion” from “Tron Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski, and will soon report for duty on Doug Liman’s “All You Need Is Kill.” Plus, there are the unscheduled films “One Shot” and “Top Gun 2.”
This will be the third remake of the 1937 original which starred Janet Gaynor as the ingenue. In 1954, Judy Garland famously played the lead role, while singer-actress Barbra Streisand and country star-turned-actor Kris Kristofferson starred in the 1976 version. But who will star in the 2035 version?
