There’s obviously a certain amount of gumption that comes with being a fighter. Some combatants don’t believe that tapping out is even an option. The idea of walking away from the ring with a broken bone or after getting put to sleep is far more acceptable than tapping out, which is verbally and physically an admittance of superiority. The Bushido Spirit still lives on in mixed martial arts, but so does pride, and pride generally comes before the gory fall. Not every refusal to tap to a neck crank or rear naked choke goes as smoothly as Miesha Tate and Holly Holm. This fighter at M-1 Challenge 68 didn’t go to sleep, he got juiced by his opponent.
You can see him fighting off the attempted rear naked choke, but then his opponent ups the torque across the chin (if this was under the chin, it would’ve been finished much more quickly, but then there would be no article on what comes next). As the camera zooms in, you see his veins bulging, he’s struggling to get out, but the only thing that escapes are his precious fluids from his nose. The faucet is turned on, and it’s as if his brains are trying to run away from the horror he’s gotten himself into.
This isn’t the first time a fighter has had his head juiced like an orange. Demian Maia squeezed the hell out of Rick Story at UFC 153.
And M-1 Challenge 68 wasn’t without other weird happenings. We got a ring fall (Pride never die) and a weird foot massage to go along with the juicing.
