Jane Lynch might be missing Glee a little bit. The actress spent years on Ryan Murphy’s flagship program taking the wind out of (and occasionally taking part in) campy cover songs. Now, she’s returned to the well with a cabaret cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” for her upcoming show, See Jane Sing!
Lynch explained the reasoning behind adding the tune to her show to Mashable:
“I wanted to give the kids a little something… I did a Nicki Minaj rap on Glee — I did ‘Super Bass’ and I loved doing it. I think Nicki’s just a genius. I think her [‘Anaconda’] video is just amazing.”
That video stirred up quite a bit of controversy when Minaj felt the record-breaking video was unfairly snubbed by the MTV VMAs. She spoke out, insinuating that a white artist would have received the nod and the whole internet exploded.
Hopefully Lynch’s number will go over a bit easier.
