The entire planet (and maybe Vegeta as well) went bonkers for the Rock enlisting Ronda Rousey’s help at WrestleMania 31, but could this extend beyond last night’s segment? Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer seems to think so.
While the Rock was rumoured to arrive at WrestleMania to set up a program with Triple H, the events of WrestleMania have generated a lot of speculation that Rousey’s role will be expanded as well. This could include Stephanie and Rousey being in the corners of each gentleman during a Triple H-Rock singles match, a mixed-tag of Stephanie McMahon and husband Triple H against a newly formed Rock & Rousey Connection, or at the most wild of speculation, Stephanie vs. Rousey one-on-one. Well, I guess the most wild speculation would be Rousey shooting on Brock Lesnar and walking out WWE Heavyweight Champion, but hey, we’ve all got dreams, right?
WWE has made an effort to break the attendance record of each preceding WrestleMania, and hopes to do so when WrestleMania 32 rolls into AT&T Stadium next year. During the post-WrestleMania conference call earlier today, Vince McMahon said the success and reach of the WWE Network has allowed them to bring in higher profile guests without affecting their overall budget. Bigger names means bigger rating and subscription grabs, and if UFC President Dana White allowed Rousey to participate in a physical capacity beyond, pairing the Rock and Rousey at the biggest wrestling event of the year would be, uh, I think the technical term is “f-cking bananas.”
