So…is Destination America replacing Impact Wrestling with Ring of Honor, or simply doubling down on their second-rate wrestling shows?

Destination America recently announced Impact Wrestling’s move from Fridays to Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET. Picking up ROH TV officially makes Wednesday night the most stacked night in wrestling, with Impact, ROH, NXT, and Lucha Underground all competing for an audience. James Storm recently talked about the difficulties of being on a network like DA on the v2wrestling podcast:
Every network wants great ratings, but the problem is that it takes time for the casual wrestling fans and the viewers to find Destination America. A lot of people don’t have that channel, or it’s a premium channel and they have to pay for it. My mom actually couldn’t find it until like a month ago. So it’s just taking people a little longer to find the Destination America channel.
There’s no word on how this will affect current broadcasts of ROH TV on local networks, aka my number one source for ridiculous western New York personal injury lawyer commercials.
It seems that by trying to cast a wider net, Destination America is hoping to bolster the audience for Impact. Of course, I like to think they just put Dan Bynum and Dixie Carter in a board room, and flicked the lights on and off shouting YOU’RE IN DIRECT COMPETITION, and EC3 gets to sit in the front seat because he’s good at wrestling. Hack the bone, EC3. Hack the bone.
