Hours before the controversial finish to his “winner take all” title vs. title match at WWE SummerSlam, John Cena stopped by SportsCenter to talk Make-A-Wish, the good reviews for his performance in Trainwreck and his history with ESPN and former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman.
The West Newbury, Mass. native was also asked what advice he’d give Tom Brady on handling the fallout from Deflategate. Coach asked if the “NEVER GIVE UP” on Cena’s shirt was enough, but Cena went into detail, mentioning how bad the New England Patriots were when he was a kid and questioning why the government’s spent so much money investigating this.
The quote:
“Let your accomplishments speak for yourself. There is no better argument to any speculation than to go out there and just kick some ass. You are great; you are part of a great organization that prides itself on trying to create a dynasty atmosphere. They’ve taken an organization of Patriots … I remember as a kid I remember going to Foxborough in the ’80s, it’s a lot different now than it was then. Stay the course, keep doing well, and years from now we’ll just wonder why we spent federal tax dollars investigating deflated footballs.”
