A video shown to the live crowd Saturday night before NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 revealed who’s set to face current Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss at WWE Evolution this fall, and it’s going to be quite a legendary matchup.
Trish Stratus, one of the most acclaimed women wrestlers in WWE history, will face off against Bliss at the WWE’s first all-women PPV event on October 28.

Stratus only returned to the ring this year, when she was the final entrant in the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble match back in January. She seemed excited then about returning to wrestling, and there’s already been talk about her being a part of Evolution, so it’s not a huge surprise that she’ll be facing one of WWE’s current top women superstars.
One minor thing worth noting is that this doesn’t seem like a championship match, both because it involves a woman who currently doesn’t have an active role in the company (although stranger things have happened — remember WWE Universal Champion Goldberg?), and because Bliss is pictured without her title belt.
Some are already speculating that this could point to Bliss dropping the title to Ronda Rousey tomorrow night at SummerSlam. But on the other hand, a lot of people were already expecting that to happen.
Update: WWE released new images for Bliss-Stratus, with Alexa still holding the belt. It was either a simple oversight from the WWE’s promo department, or the wrong image got released. Either way, it’s been fixed for now. If Bliss does drop the title to Rousey at SummerSlam, at least we know they have the right image ready to go.
