Concerning news being reported from multiple sources this weekend says Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has been fighting through a lingering neck injury and appears to be out of Sunday night’s No Mercy event.
A report from The Observer says a “source close to the situation” says Lynch’s scheduled Women’s Championship match against Alexa Bliss has been pulled, in a situation similar to Randy Orton being pulled from Backlash. Orton appeared on the show in an angle to explain the injury, but there’s no word yet on whether or not Lynch will appear or be replaced.
Squared Circle Sirens expounded on that report, revealing that Lynch has been “working through” an unspecified neck injury “for the past few weeks.” Pro Wrestling Sheet’s James McKenna tweeted that not only is Lynch injured and pulled from the No Mercy card, she’s “likely shelved for the month.”
Lynch’s most recent match was a losing effort in a tag team match to No Mercy challenger Alexa Bliss and Carmella on this past Tuesday’s Smackdown. We’ll keep you updated on any further developments in the story, as No Mercy should fill in a lot of the blanks. Let’s hope the injury isn’t severe enough to keep Lynch on the shelf for any significant amount of time.
