We delivered the mind-boggling news on Tuesday that Brock Lesnar was actually backstage at this week’s Raw, but he was never brought out to resuscitate the terminally boring show. What was the thought process behind that decision? Well, it turns out that it wasn’t WWE’s decision at all. The company planned to have Brock on Raw, but he reportedly stormed out backstage.
According to both the Wrestling Observer and PWInsider, Brock was visibly angry for much of the night, then left partway through Raw. The precise nature of Brock’s issue is unknown, but it apparently wasn’t anything to do with the writing or creative side of the show because, come on, of course it wasn’t. Brock is happy to zone out while Paul Heyman says his stupid words as long as the checks clear. Speaking of checks, word is the dispute was over Brock’s business relationship with WWE.
Could this blowup jeopardize the WrestleMania main event? Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer doesn’t seem to think so, but he said that there remains “an unanswered question” between WWE and Brock that needs to be resolved before things can move forward. If I had to guess, I’d say Brock is upset that management won’t let him hunt J&J Security for sport backstage.
We’ll update this story if any new information surfaces.
