With WWE’s recent call-ups and influx of talent in and out of the NXT program, there are quite a lot of dream match-ups currently occurring in pro wrestling fans’ heads. AJ Styles and Seth Rollins. American Alpha and TMDK. Shinsuke Nakamura and anybody. One of these dream match-ups that fans are hoping for is Brock Lesnar versus Kevin Owens. Both men are two of the shining stars in WWE’s current product, and if their paths collide you can expect the proverbial sparks to fly.
Well, we were almost there. It was recently announced that Owens and Lesnar would indeed meet at a house show in Hawaii, the same show that is supposed to also host another dream match in John Cena versus Nakamura. Apparently, we jumped the gun a little too early. While this is still somewhat of loose concept — only one outlet is reporting it so far — it seems as though the Owens/Lesnar match is off. In fact, according to Dave Meltzer’s Observer Newsletter, Lesnar will not even be in attendance at the Hawaii shows. Bummer.
Still, it’s not all bad news. Lesnar is on his way back to WWE, after a layoff, following his beatdown of Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania. The Beast Incarnate is preparing for another run leading up to SummerSlam, but it’s not yet known who he’ll be in a program with. Could it be Owens? We’ll see…
