CM Punk’s MMA Debut Will Be Delayed (Again) Due To Back Surgery

CM Punk’s MMA debut has become the Detox album of MMA debuts. We’re going to wait and wait for it and it’ll probably actually never happen. According to MMAFighting.com, Punk has been dealing with a nagging injury from his wrestling days.

“My back has always bugged me,” Punk told MMAFighting.com. “Figured it was just wrestling sh*t. Turns out it was.

“It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.”

Maybe Phil should have had more Z-Paks, amirite? Somehow I feel like this is all Ryback’s fault.

Punk joined UFC in December of 2014 and has yet to enter the octagon. He still hopes to fight sometime in 2016, but the surgery will take four to six weeks to recover. Then he’ll be sure to fight right after that. This has been a terrible series of events for Punk over the last year. Hopefully it all ends in a decent career and run in MMA because the anticipation is at a fever pitch and only getting worse.
