Thanks to Instagram user punkd_images, Adam “Edge” Copeland’s turn on The CW series The Flash has been uncovered. No, really. They literally posted him unmasking.

Earlier in the day, ComicBookMovie.com noted that Edge would be playing a mysterious masked character, but they were not sure of his identity. The character has now been identified as masked villain Atom Smasher.

ComicBook.com has exclusively confirmed the role:

He will appear in the season premiere, currently filming, and contrary to what the name might suggest, he’s not on the good guys’ side. Here’s how The CW describes his character:

“One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash. His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him.”

Though Atom Smasher is traditionally a hero (calm down, I know you’re chomping at the bit to correct the villain part), every indication is that, when he arrives in Central City, he’ll definitely be a bad guy.

Besides spending years on WWE television, Copeland has also been a regular on the Syfy/Showcase AmeriCanadian show Haven. There’s no word on when the episode will air as of yet, but The Flash returns to television in October.
