The WWE Raw announce team didn’t have a lot to talk about during the Naomi vs. Alicia Fox “one hand tied behind my back” barnburner, so they threw a little shade at NBC’s Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth for praising NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s “integrity.”
If you missed Saturday’s playoff game between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens, Michaels speed-read a carefully-prepared-by-his-bosses script about the NFL and the Ravens trying to cover up Ray Rice abusing his wife in a casino elevator. It’s delicately worded, to say the least. The short version: the video went viral and caused us a lot of problems, but we didn’t do anything wrong, we swear, shut up, it’s fine.
Collinsworth provided the key soundbite: “I never once in all my dealings with the commissioner ever doubted his integrity.”
On Raw, Michael Cole says he was given a prepared statement from The Authority about the firings of Superstars Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan, saying he was told to say they were let go because it’s “best for business.” They worry aloud about the loss of freedom of speech (~!) and JBL jumps in with, “I can say with all honesty that I’ve never doubted the integrity of the authority.”
Booker T: “Welcome to Russia.”
JBL: “Easy, Bill Simmons!”
No better time to use this GIF, I guess.
