Jerry Lawler learned the hard way that people can and will say whatever they want to you on Twitter. Lawler tweeted his support for Presidential candidate and WWE Hall of Famer (yeah, both things at once, for real) Donald Trump ahead of the New Hampshire Primary on February 9:
Supporting @realDonaldTrump like I do is great. Getting out to vote for him even better! Vote today NH! #FITN #TrumpTrain

Much like sorting through any celebrity’s mentions, Jerry Lawler’s can get pretty bananas. I mean, if people are gonna type “choke me, daddy” to the actual Pope, you can be sure that an aging pro wrestling legend who wears a crown for funsies is gonna get some weird stuff. This time, however, fans went from expressing their disappointment in him supporting a “facist” and “bigot,” to outright wishing death on Lawler. While he didn’t delete the tweet that garnered him death threats, he seems to have learned his lesson. WMC’s Kontji Anthony explains:
We spoke with Lawler today who told us that sending out the tweet was not the best idea, and he’s now staying out of politics.
Donald Trump has a long history of involvement with WWE, is a personal friend of the McMahon family, and has been enshrined in it’s imaginary Hall of Fame. Despite all of this, John Cena — arguably the biggest public face of WWE — has openly disagreed with Trump’s anti-Muslim sentiments. Man, you don’t even wanna know what goes down in that guy’s mentions.
