Jey Uso, one half of the current Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Texas on Sunday, Jan. 14. This was first reported by Twitter user Slice Wrestling, and later confirmed by Pro Wrestling Sheet, which added that Uso was released later the same day. Jey was in Texas for a house show in Hidalgo on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Uso is far from the first wrestler — and not the first active WWE Superstar, either — to get a DWI, but it’s worth noting that this arrest occurred at the end of a week in which Jey was featured on two especially family-friendly WWE promotions: WWE Week on Nickelodeon game show Paradise Run, and the new WWE “Rev Up Your Vacation Sweepstakes,” in which the grand prize is a trip to Universal Orlando Resort, and includes previewing a new ride with Naomi and the Usos. The new ads premiered during Raw and featured the Superstars in question.
Both Jey and the WWE have yet to comment on the arrest. There isn’t much information about it out there, and it’s unclear if the incident will affect the Usos’ upcoming title defense against Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin at the Royal Rumble.
