Watch The Official Preview For John Cena’s Very Muddy And Patriotic New Reality Show, ‘American Grit’

It’s well established that no one rises above hate or supports the troops more than John Cena. In this newly released preview from Fox, we get a taste of Cena’s new military-inspired reality show, American Grit, and boy oh boy do these contestants have stuff to rise above.

Via FOX:

… AMERICAN GRIT, a new, 10-episode competition series starring WWE Superstar John Cena. Sixteen of the country’s toughest men and women will be split into four teams as they work together to face a variety of military-grade and survival-themed challenges. Cena and an elite group of mentors from the nation’s most exclusive military units will push these civilians beyond their limits.

The mentors, known as “The Cadre,” include Rorke Denver, Noah Galloway, Tawanda “Tee” Hanible and Nick “The Reaper” Irving. These real-life heroes, who represent diverse backgrounds and top branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, will impart their first-hand knowledge and experience to help the competitors work together as teams to surmount near impossible mental and physical challenges.

It’s a little weird to see John Cena in muted tones, and not his normal Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice colour palette or Mark Henry’s Big And Tall Collection suits, but I dig it. And hey, the show’s gotta be better than Downfall, right?

American Grit premieres on Thursday, April 14 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
