Love him or hate him, there’s a very good reason John Cena continues to be the face of WWE. He can charm the wine-soaked menopausal crowd on morning television, he can handle Jimmy Fallon’s balls, and be a real-life superhero to little kids everywhere. There’s nothing this dude wouldn’t do to help WWE appeal to the broadest amount of fans possible, including learning to speak Mandarin.
Yup, that’s right. John Cena joined Michelle Beadle, Max Kellerman, and Marcellus Wiley on ESPN’s SportsNation Thursday, where he showed off his impressive language skills. When Kellerman brought up Chinese currency, Cena responded in Mandarin, throwing the three hosts a bit off guard.
Cena has, in fact, been working on his Mandarin for the last few years. Here he is sending a special message to fans in Taiwan in 2014:
Cena moved onto Mandarin after learning French in 2013. Cena explained that WWE offers second language courses so their Superstars can appeal to as many foreign audiences as possible. I mean, if they don’t get health insurance, at least they get something, right?
Cena also showed off his language skills last year in a promo on Kevin Owens, and also in this probably not super safe for work clip from Trainwreck.
Besides kiss like a real human being, is there anything this guy can’t do?
