And here it is, your Moment of Zen.
After months of feuding with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, former Daily Show Jon Stewart shocked the world by getting physically involved in the Rollins vs. John Cena “winner takes all” title vs. title match at SummerSlam.
Stewart was brought in to host SummerSlam — you can check out his interactions with Mick Foley, Arrow star Stephen Amell and The Undertaker (briefly) here — and spent most of the night trying to confront Brock Lesnar on behalf of “wrestling fans.” It turns out that Stewart’s definition of “wrestling fan” is also the Internet’s, because he used a steel chair to ensure that John Cena would not leave the Barclays Center with WWE’s top 2 championships. All real, adult fans are heels, after all. Well, maybe not all of them.
It would be in Stewart’s best interest to stay as far away from WWE television as possible going forward, so that Cena can never get his revenge. I was hoping John Oliver would run out after the match and spend 15 minutes eviscerating WWE for how they do business. Larry Wilmore could run out, too, but you know WWE would never let him out of the mid-card.
