The WWE roster has been ravaged by an injury epidemic over the past year, seeing everyone from John Cena and Randy Orton to Seth Rollins and Sting being put on the shelf for months at a time. After Monday’s edition of Raw, it looks like we might be inducting a new member into that Hall of Pain.
The video above is the finish to last night’s Big E vs. Mark Henry match, featuring Henry getting put up for the Big Ending, appearing to counter, then just kinda collapsing to the ground in a heap. Big E covered him and won the match without a followup, and all signs point to Henry being hurt. It could’ve all been part of the show, sure, but why design a part of the show to simulate an awkward, real-life injury that doesn’t appear to be part of the show and deflates the crowd? Even Michael Cole just blanked for a second. Fans in the arena noted that Henry was helped to the back after the match.
It looks like a rib injury, either caused by Big E’s splashes earlier in the match, the stress of being held up in a Big Ending when you’re that big, or some combination of the two. We certainly hope whatever went wrong is minor, and that Henry can get back in the ring as soon as possible. It’d be a shame for him to completely miss a WrestleMania in his home state of Texas this late in his career.
