Will We Be Seeing Motörhead At NXT Takeover: London?

Gone are the days of WrestleMania XIX, when Tony Chimel introduced Limp Bizkit as WWE’s “favorite band.” If there’s a frontrunner these days, I’d have to guess it’s rock legends Motörhead. Now in their fourth decade, the band has lent three different entrance themes to lifelong fan Triple H. It turns out that one of the perks of being friends with frontman Lemmy Kilmister is that you get to request special projects. We should all be so lucky! In fact, back in the days of WWE Confidential, we even got a sneak peek at the recording of Evolution’s “Line in the Sand” theme.

Aside from all that, recent chatter is beginning to suggest that Triple H’s relationship with the band might be bringing something new in the near future. This tweet from yesterday seems to be making a not-so-subtle suggestion.

If you don’t remember, NXT Loud is the initiative that partners with bands for Takeover events. In Brooklyn, we got Sleeping with Sirens, and Takeover: Respect gave us Bring Me the Horizon. So, with that in mind, it makes sense to theorize that Motörhead will be the NXT Loud band for Takeover: London in December, which would be the mother of all upgrades. Not only that, but there’s talk of the band actually playing live at the show. They’re currently touring for their latest album Bad Magic, but the day of Takeover falls right in the middle of a six-week break in the schedule. It makes sense and the timing is perfect, but we’ll have to do as the tweet says and stay tuned for further news. As for what song Motörhead might lend this time around, you might remember that Triple H requested a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil” on the new album. I’m happy to report that it turned out awesome, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this started getting a lot of play on the WWE Network this December.
