We’re less than six weeks from WrestleMania, which means matches are starting to come together. Thanks to his victory in the Elimination Chamber, Roman Reigns will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title. Thanks to her victory in the Royal Rumble, Asuka will fight Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Title (unless she decides to fight Charlotte for the SmackDown Women’s Title instead).
Ronda Rousey will very obviously team with Kurt Angle in a mixed tag match against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, even though they haven’t officially said so yet. And despite all of his said faces, we can be certain John Cena will be doing something (possibly fighting the Undertaker?).
But one big question remains: What’s the plan for Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 34?
Over at Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has plenty to say about that.
“One thing was changed, and that is that Miz-Braun Strowman appears to be out [for WrestleMania]. If you watched [Raw], it’s pretty clear that they’re going to be doing Miz-Seth Rollins, and probably Finn Bálor, in a three-way, which takes Strowman out. Strowman is obviously – based on what happened there, Strowman is the backup plan in case something happens [with Brock Lesnar].
“I don’t know if they’re going to go with a three-way at Mania, with Strowman in there with Reigns and Brock Lesnar, but if something happens with Lesnar, obviously Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman is the only match you can put in that spot. And if something happens with Roman Reigns, and something still could, Strowman’s obviously the only guy you can put in that spot, as well. I suppose they could go with Strowman with Elias, but it is very interesting …

Meltzer points out that while earlier reports put Braun against the Miz for the Intercontinental Title, Raw made it clear that what’s being set up is the Miz versus Seth Rollins, quite possibly in a triple threat with Finn Bálor. Meltzer claims that Braun has probably been taken out of the Intercontinental picture because he’s the back-up plan in case something happens with Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns.
Meltzer speculates that Strowman might be put in a triple threat with Roman and Brock, but says that either way Strowman is the guy to fill in if Roman or Brock can’t be there for any reason. After all, Roman could get injured in a match on Raw in the meantime, and it’s possible Brock will have a hunting accident or something, doing whatever it is he does instead of being at Raw.
Meltzer’s right that if something were to happen to either of them, Braun has already been perfectly set up to fight the other. As for what Strowman will be doing if everything goes according to plan? That’s completely up in the air for the time being, although Meltzer does mention Elias as an obvious possibility.
