During Rey Mysterio’s long struggle for freedom, we heard a lot of stories about what he may do once he finally escaped WWE’s controlling grasp. Maybe he’d leave wrestling behind altogether, do Mexican soap operas and work on his old man luchador gut! Well, it turns out all those conflicting stories were just misdirection, and Rey is doing the thing most of us expected he would: sign with top Mexican promotion, AAA.
Mysterio’s return to AAA was announced in a press conference late Tuesday. He’ll make his first live appearance for the company on March 15, and he’ll team with Alberto El Patron and Myzteziz (the original Sin Cara) on March 23. Hopefully, the three face an opposing trio in Vince, Triple H and Stephanie masks.
Here’s a few photos from the event…

Signing with AAA means that Rey will also be a part of the company’s affiliate promotion, Lucha Underground, and I have to say, I’m excited to see what the most popular luchador in U.S. wrestling history can do for the company.
