Monday’s Raw ended with Triple H beating the ever-loving dogsh*t out of Roman Reigns, leaving him bloody and sending him off for what WWE.com is calling, “nasal reconstruction surgery, which consisted of a deviated septum that was fixed and realigned.” A lot of (admittedly jaded) wrestling fans thought this was just a way to get Roman off TV for a while and see if that helped him getting booed nearly everywhere WWE goes, but Redditor zalaphoto may have found the actual answer.
The theory goes like this:
You can see part of the table smash him in the nose. After going through the table, you can see that Sheamus noticed he was hurt, and they whisper something to each other during the pin. I didn’t catch the aftermath on video, but Roman’s nose was bleeding, so the referee had to put gloves on to check him out. Sheamus stalled by taunting the crowd. After a minute, the ref cleared Roman to continue and they finished the match.
I don’t know if Roman broke his nose or what, but he seemed pretty frustrated about it, sighing and cursing to himself. You can see from the photo at the end that his nose was injured to some degree.
Ever since this happened, Roman has had a scar on the bridge of his nose. Look at any closeup footage of his face taken since 12/30/15 and you can see it.
That’s a perfectly reasonable explanation, especially when you watch the video and think about how much it hurts to get smacked in the face with something when you aren’t expecting it. It would also explain why they accomplished the Raw blood the way they did, and why they’d want to give Roman a few weeks to heal up and get ready for the main-event of WrestleMania 32.
(Stop hurting people, Sheamus.)
