UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 31 to fist-bump The Rock and throw around Triple H like a rag doll. There’s been speculation that she’d return at Mania 32 to team up with Rock against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, but everyone has a different story; The Rock and Rousey herself are both all-in, but UFC and her agent say no. As it turns out, reports now say that Rowdy Ronda will in fact miss WrestleMania 32, but it’s for the best reason ever.
Dave Meltzer says that Rousey will be in Indonesia filming a movie in March and April, ruling out a WWE appearance. That movie? A gender-swapped remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze kicking stuff classic Road House. Ronda can’t figuratively rip out Stephanie McMahon’s throat because she’ll be off somewhere literally ripping out somebody’s throat.
Of course, keep in mind that the nature of wrestling news and gossip is that someone confirms something, and then everyone changes their minds and does the opposite, meaning Ronda could still easily hop an international flight and make an appearance. That said, it certainly doesn’t look good, and we may have to wait until Mania 33 — or beyond — to see Steph get judo’d.
