Maria Kanellis has been in the news recently for her past association with Donald Trump, which had some real ironic qualities to it. The former WWE Diva is currently under contract to TNA, along with her husband “The Miracle” Mike Bennett. Bennett has recently been outspoken about his frustrations with TNA, and on Monday after Impact Wrestling won its court case against Billy Corgan, he had this to say:
Welp, back to bad business as usual 🙄
— Mike Bennett (@RealMikeBennett) October 31, 2016
It’s no secret that morale is bad at TNA and wrestlers have been on pins and needles ever since the news came out that the company was actively looking to find a buyer to bail them out of their current situation. Bennett has just been one of the few people in TNA willing to talk about it on social media.
Now Maria is taking to her own Twitter account to say that she’s nearing the end of the road in the wrestling business, as she’s looking to continue her schooling and get a change of scenery.

“News, any news doesn’t ever tell the whole story. It will be an interesting next couple months. What I know is I am leaving wrestling soon. I’m not exactly sure when but that’s why I went back to school. I am done in May with my bachelors. And then, I’m on to my masters degree. Eventually everyone must realize that the road never changes until you change roads.”
That certainly seems to echo Bennett’s sentiments about “business as usual,” and both personal and professional frustration with the wrestling business in general. (And, one imagines, their current employer in specific.)
Kanellis has been in the wrestling business more or less nonstop since 2004, when she competed in the Raw Diva Search. 12 years is a long time to spend in any profession. We all need a change of scenery now and then.
