The NXT roster got quite a scare on Thursday night, as Tommaso Ciampa appeared to injure himself during a tag team match in Kentucky. That would, of course, have been awful news for Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: Chicago event, as Ciampa and Johnny Gargano are set to take on NXT Tag Team Champions the Authors of Pain in a ladder match.
Thankfully, the injury is not serious, according to NXT’s daddy himself. Triple H held a conference call on Friday to discuss TakeOver and a whole lot more. Not surprisingly, Triple H was asked about Ciampa’s apparent injury. Triple H said Ciampa is “good to go” on Saturday night. The situation was that Ciampa twisted his ankle going for his diving knee off the apron, and that an X-ray showed there is no major damage, so it is being considered a sprain at this point.
Triple H also said he had texted Ciampa on Friday, and Ciampa is up and moving around fine. He admitted that as of right now, there is no backup plan for Chicago if Ciampa needed to pull out, but if Ciampa’s condition should happen to worsen, they’ll start working on some scenarios.
Good news for everyone all around. Now we can prepare to have Ciampa fall off ladders all he wants!
