On Thursday, WWE announced that they had suspended Eva Marie for 30 days for her first violation of their Wellness Policy. This announcement was right on the heels of Wednesday’s announcements that both Alberto Del Rio and Paige would also be receiving their first suspensions. After Eva Marie’s suspension was announced, her husband, Jonathan Coyle, posted a now-deleted tweet saying that her punishment was “unjust.”
TMZ reports that Eva Marie’s suspension was because she tested positive for Adderall, which is on the banned substances list for WWE. According to TMZ, Eva Marie is “adamant” that she has a valid prescription for Adderall, and that she will be appealing the suspension.
Eva Marie issued a statement to the news outlet insisting she simply forgot to file the appropriate paperwork with WWE. Her full comments:
“I am disappointed that this suspension has occurred, yet understand and respect that WWE upholds their Wellness Policy to the letter and won’t compromise on its integrity.
“I violated policy by not turning in portions of required paperwork in the time frame WWE Medical deemed timely. I look forward to my return!”
It seems unlikely that WWE would overturn the suspension on appeal, given that she failed to follow proper protocol for disclosing her prescription. It’s unfortunate that she had to fail the test in this way, but man alive, just imagine how incredible her entrance narration will be when she finally returns.
