Today marks the three day anniversary of Smackdown becoming a good show again, but today is also the 17th anniversary of Smackdown being a weekly television show. The year was 1999. The Sixth Sense was in theaters, Shakira was at the top of the pop charts, and Al Snow was in a feud with the Big Boss Man that would lead to him eating his own dog. Good times!
It’s amazing that after seventeen years so many of the Superstars who appeared on the first show are back on WWE TV today; some of them are even still wrestling. Check out this video of the top ten things that happened on the first Smackdown then sit back and dream of a bygone era where as many as ten things would happen on a WWE program.
Wow! Only three of the people in that video are dead. That’s a pretty
good number by wrestling standards.
The comment section would probably be a pretty good place to get together and talk about your favorite Smackdown memories of all time. Just going to go out on a limb and assume that some of them involve the illustrious Smackdown Six.
