Sunday night’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view was headlined by a much-hyped “dream rematch” main event between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. The two last met at WrestleMania XX, in what was at the time both men’s last match with WWE. The result was one of the most maligned matches in WrestleMania history. Goldberg had been in retirement since that match, which happened 12 years ago.
While Lesnar was the overwhelming favorite to win the match, Goldberg shocked the world by defeating him in an extremely short main event to end Survivor Series. The match — which ultimately lasted less than 90 seconds — began with Lesnar trying to muscle around Goldberg, but the previously-retired WCW icon shoved right back, taking Lesnar by surprise with his strength. Lesnar mockingly laughed at Goldberg, but when he got to his feet, he was met with an immediate spear, which hurt him. Goldberg hit a second spear, then followed it up with a Jackhammer to win the match in short order and go up 2-0 on Lesnar.
After the match, Goldberg celebrated at ringside with his friends and family, then got in the ring and posed with his young son (who had never seen Goldberg wrestle before) as a final curtain call for the live Toronto crowd and the WWE Network viewers.
