As we’ve discussed previously, the next WrestleMania will be held at the former Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, and WWE is hoping to set attendance records by packing that baby to the rafters. In order to do that, the company is hoping to bring back as many big names from the past as they can. Apparently, it doesn’t even matter if their retired.
Shawn Michaels was a guest on the latest episode of The Ross Report, and talk turned around to WrestleMania 32. Ross speculated that WWE would make offers to big name old-timers like Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels, and ol’ HBK didn’t beat around the bush, confirming “I’ve already had an offer.” Interesting.
Of course, an offer by no means guarantees Michaels will be bopping down the aisle in Dallas, as he’s enjoying his retirement from wrestling and new life as a weird, grubby hunting guy…
“I have the ability to be involved in whatever it is I’d like to take part in. That offer’s always sort of been there. Right now, I choose not to do that.
I want to go back and do it when I’m passionate about it, and right now I’m passionate about other things. I don’t want to make it sound like I’m too good for WWE, I’m not. I don’t want to go back and do a job I’m not 100% into. It’s not fair to them and not fair to me.”
Sounds like the door isn’t entirely closed. I wonder how many zeroes WWE has to add to HBK’s check to make them his No. 1 passion again? What do you folks think? If Michaels were to come back, what would you do with him at WrestleMania 32? Bicycle shorts-wearing ref? Have him and Austin face off in a heated game of Big Buck Hunter?
