Are you a fan of the Leprechaun series? That’s a rhetorical question. Of course you are! Three Leprechaun films are coming to Netflix in April, but if you’re not a fan of little green murderers, the streaming service will have plenty more new TV shows and movies to offer this month. Ricky Gervais’ Derek is airing a special, cult fav Suicide Kings is coming our way, and Season 7 of Sons of Anarchy will help fill that void you’ve been feeling since the show’s finale. The Babadook (April 14)
Australia is already a place full of fearful animals that can kill you by looking at you, so what’s one cantankerous ghost going to do? The Babadook has been getting rave reviews, and it doesn’t mean to reinvent the haunted house genre, it just aims to excel at it. Full of creepy visuals, and a “less is more” aesthetic, this film is one of the better horror films of 2014. If it’s in a word…
Halt and Catch Fire (Season 1)
One of the best TV shows (my personal favorite) of 2014 was also one of the least talked about, which is a shame. This AMC original has a ton of courage, compelling characters who are full of flaws, and a narrative that places Mad Men in the ’80s with awesome accompanying music. The cliffhangers are perfectly suited for a good binge.
Marvel’s Daredevil (Season 1)
The Marvel juggernaut is conquering film and TV, so the next frontier is streaming. There’s a lot is riding on this series. The talented Drew Goddard is at the helm for this comic book adaptation of the popular blind lawyer who fights crime, with Vincent D’Onofrio playing Kingpin. Anything is better than the Ben Affleck film, right?
