While some high school senior pranks are a little more creative and even considerate to others, sometimes nothing beats a pair of good, old-fashioned leopard print underwear. Jack Britt High School senior Quintin Murphy decided to excite an otherwise unenthusiastic crowd at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina, by ditching his robe and dress shirt after his name was called. He received mixed reactions as he stood there with his arms raised in triumph, wearing little more than his birthday suit, but the county’s superintendent simply won’t put up with this kind of tomfoolery.
Murphy will not receive his diploma, according to FayObserver.com, and he has been banned from school property and events because of his decision to be inappropriately unique.
“Our schools have worked so hard,” [Cumberland County schools Superintendent Frank] Till said. “It used to be that the audience would be disruptive at graduation. We’ve worked hard to get the audiences to respect our students. This young man chose not to show respect for his colleagues.”
After a few seconds of posing, Murphy quickly gathered his robe and shirt and hurried off the stage. Till said police officers escorted him to another area.
“Then, graduation went on as if the incident hadn’t occurred,” he said. “I was very proud of the students and very proud of the school.” (Via FayObserver.com)
Murphy, on the other hand, will spend the rest of his life haunted by the fact that one immature act cost him his diploma. Sure, his transcript still shows that he graduated and he’ll be able to go to college and pursue a career in whatever field he chooses, but without the actual diploma? Well, he’ll just have to find something else to leave under a stack of books in his closet.
