According to a new ruling, it is now perfectly legal to file one’s divorce papers through private messages on Facebook. The decision was handed down by Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper after a Brooklyn woman filed for divorce against her deadbeat husband. The man, who vanished a few years ago, allegedly communicates with her by only phone and Facebook.
According to the slip opinion, the ruling states one must first try filing papers via process server or through home delivery. Hey, married people, you might want to start checking your “other” folder more often. Just saying.
