Well, what did you think, that superheroes don’t age like the rest of us? Because they do, although some do so more gracefully than we ever will. But that doesn’t mean a Superhero in Winter isn’t funny, because it is, because aging is kinda funny when it’s happening to other people. And Swedish artist Andreas Englund has been capitalizing on that with oil on canvas portraits that imagines what a superhero’s life is like when he’s in his golden years.
This reminds me — I’ve been waiting for Hollywood to a movie, a comedy, about an elderly superhero. We’ve had movies about kid superheroes, but, unless I’m missing something, I don’t ever remember a movie about an elderly superhero. I think that could be funny as hell. Maybe an elderly superhero buddy movie starring Gene Hackman and Robert Duvall? I’m basically begging them to take my movie for me to see that. MAKE IT HAPPEN, HOLLYWOOD!
After the jump are a few more of my favs from Englund’s collection. Enjoy…
