Last Sunday, Dawson Tamatea, a beloved teacher at a New Zealand high school, died unexpectedly in his sleep. Tamatea had taught at Palmerston North Boys’ High School for 25 years and built up a reputation as an attentive and supportive teacher.
At Tamatea’s funeral, the entire school gathered together to honor their teacher with a traditional Maori dance called the Haka. It’s a really moving tribute, and seeing the huge amount of current and former students perform it together as Tamatea’s hearse arrives at the funeral home is pretty moving.
