A North Carolina woman named Laura Neff wrote on YouTube that she and her husband were having a “run of the mill Sunday afternoon” when, all of a sudden, they heard a noise and — no big deal — a 4-foot long (thankfully, nonvenomous) rat snake had descended from their spice cabinet and was devouring an egg on the kitchen counter.
Instead of running round the house screaming their faces off, which would also have been a perfectly reasonable reaction in this situation, Neff and her husband let the snake finish its egg and then managed to shoo it out the window using brooms.
Using two brooms, a whole lot of patience, nudging, and encouraging, we finally convinced it that going out the open window was a MUCH better option than slithering away behind the fridge! As soon as we could get its bulk under the brooms, we hefted it out the window, and off it went to the rest of its evening. And then we drank. (Kidding! okay, sort of. Lol!)
I would have drank, too. Actually, I would have tried to call RoboCop to come save me as a way of avoiding the reality of the situation, but getting the snake out and then pouring a stiff one also sounds like a good idea.
