You know how you’ve always thought it would be fun to attend the annual Lebowski Fest but you don’t like travel and you were pretty sure it would take several gallons of White Russian to get you through conversations with other people dressed like Walter Sobchak? Good news. Via the fine folks at Splitsider we are privy to photographs taken last night by Nadia Chaudhury (no word yet on how good her Maude is) of Day 1 of the two day 2011 New York Lebowski Fest. The evening at New York Chelsea Piers included trivia, costume contests, the midnight release of The Big Lebowski on Blu-ray (WANT), and trolling Tara Reid’s wedding registry (or so I would have suggested).
My personal favorite costumes were Dream Sequence Dude (even if he was channeling a little too much Lorenzo Lamas), the guy who nailed Jesus’s ball-cleaning partner (sans hair), Non-Caucasian Dude & Walter, and the lady in the “8 Year-Olds, Dude” bowling jersey.
Tonight is where the real magic happens though as Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, and Julianne Moore reunite at the Hammerstein Ballroom for a Q&A and a screening — it’s sold out, naturally, but there is a Facebook live stream. Hopefully some decent media will come out of it and I’ll be back tomorrow with the details. If you watch the live stream I’ll be the guy in the Sam Elliot costume asking Logjammin’ questions.
