On last night’s episode of E!’s “The Soup,” Joel McHale (AKA Jeff Winger) spoofed Michael Fassbender’s “Happy Birthday, David” viral marketing for Prometheus. In the spoof, McHale plays “Joel 8,” an eighth generation clip show host robot who is “handsome, funny, handsome, good looking, and empty” but not until he’s had his morning meeting with Daddy Scotch.
Among this robot’s strengths are an ability to tell jokes human clip show hosts would find offensive, racist, sexist, and stupid, which means we can totally be friends. He also excels at playing Hungry Hungry Hippos, watching 70 straight hours of “Duck Dynasty” without setting himself on fire, and thinking about as well as being depressed by Ryan Seacrest, “Hillbilly Handfishin'”, and Kardashians. I know that feel, bro.
It’s a masterful shot-for-shot parody, as evidenced by the pictures and GIFs after the videos below.
Here’s the original Prometheus “Happy Birthday, David” viral, for comparison:
