As you may have heard, hidden camera video of Mitt Romney being his usual totally relatable self hit the web yesterday afternoon (Hint: the next time you run for president and give a speech to a bunch of millionaires in which you label 47% percent of Americans as victims who “believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing,” you may want to check if there are any cameras on.) Yes, secret footage of Mitt Romney — who also delusionally insisted in the video that he “inherited nothing” in life — speaking to a bunch of millionaires at a fundraiser in May went viral yesterday after being posted on Mother Jones’ website, and Romney’s words are quite damning for someone who wants to be president.
“There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax…[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” (Via)
THEY WHAT? Well, that’s the last time I throw table scraps out my window to the ungrateful Poor below.
Anyway, clearly Romney’s thoughts on people who don’t vote Republican were, in his own words, “not elegantly stated,” but that’s not even the best part of the story: the man who hosted the Boca Raton fundraiser, Sun Capital Partners co-founder Marc J. Leder (he looks a slimy slumlord in a Spike Lee movie), is known for throwing killer sex parties. Per the New York Post:
At the Bridgehampton home that Leder rented for a whopping $500,000 a month, guests cavorted nude in a pool and performed sex acts, while scantily clad Russian women danced on platforms. Dancers at the party also twirled flaming torches to booming beats. No wonder Leder’s “Cocktail & Dinner Party With Live Show” last night on St. Barts inspired such high expectations. Sources say Leder, said to be worth $400 million, has been on a partying jag since his wife of 22 years, Lisa, cheated on him with a 23-year-old tennis instructor in 2009. A rep for Leder didn’t get back to us. (Via)
That’s like every rich person stereotype in one paragraph: Having a house in somewhere called “Bridgehampton?” Check. Rent that can be described as “whopping?” Check. Foreign women dancing on platforms? Check. Wife leaving husband after cheating on him with the tennis boy? Check.
It’s also worth noting that, according to Mother Jones, Sun Capital Partners acquired Friendly’s…and then the chain filed for bankruptcy shortly thereafter. I don’t care how many orgies Leder’s thrown — I’m blaming him for the lack of Jim Dandys in the world. And not the kind of Jim Dandys that happen at his parties, either.
Finally, that didn’t take long…
