WWE’s Version Of The #LikeAGirl Super Bowl Commercial Is Empowering (Just Don’t Read The Comments)

Always aired their #LikeAGirl commercial during Super Bowl XLIX, and it was a nice, empowering change of pace from the weird barrage of dead kids and sadness. This year’s Super Bowl commercials were basically the emotional opposite of the Katy Perry Rides Stars And Sings With Sharks halftime show.

WWE uploaded their own version featuring their NXT Divas, and it’s equally empowering if you stay the hell away from the comments. It was a great decision to use the NXT group, because women like Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss have been busting ass to make a name for themselves not only as “Divas,” but as wrestlers and performers. You wouldn’t see this with Brie Bella getting a smoothie poured over her head or Paige and Natalya feuding over not wanting to be licked in the face, for example.

This is a pretty cool direction for WWE to take its female competitors, and aside from wrestling fans’ total inability to handle women as people, we hope it continues. So when you see someone make a comment like this …

… or this …

… or this …

… know they’re sad exceptions and Sasha Banks could kill them with her bare hands.

Edit: In a fun bit of symmetry, don’t read the comments here either!
