John Cena May Be Taking Time Off To Film A Fitness-Based Reality Show For Fox

As we reported a couple weeks back, John Cena and his face will be taking a break from running the place after this year’s Hell in a Cell. Following the October 25 pay-per-view, Cena isn’t booked for house shows or television tapings until December 26. WWE may slip some December bookings in, but word is he’s going to be taking at least six weeks off. This means Cena will likely miss Survivor Series, TLC and a major European live tour.

Of course the guy who never leaves, well, leaving has got the online scuttlebutt machine working overboard. According to the Wrestling Observer, Cena first requested time off sometime this summer, which would seem to rule out this being an urgent, injury-related thing. The reason for the time off has been described as personal, although, PWInsider claims, it has nothing to do with his relationship with Nikki Bella because duh, of course it doesn’t.

The latest, and most plausible sounding, story is that Cena is taking time off to film a non-WWE reality show. According to a TV industry insider, Cena’s show will air on Fox and be fitness-themed. Filming will start on October 26, and it will likely take six to eight weeks to get everything shot. That certainly lines up nicely with the time off Cena has requested. Of course, this is just rumor for now.

So, assuming this pans out, who’s up for John Cena inspiring people to meet their fitness goals (or whatever)? Personally, I’m hoping the show is called The Big Show Loser, and it’s just Cena yelling at Big Show to lose some weight, and slowly, dramatically AA-ing him whenever he doesn’t reach his goals.
