Watch The First Trailer For CM Punk’s Documentary ‘The Evolution Of Punk’

“Everybody has the misconception that pro wrestling is fake, all the people in pro wrestling are weak and can’t fight. Why can’t I?”

A little over a week ago, we finally got an air date for CM Punk’s upcoming documentary. Now we can knock another one off of Punk’s ever-growing list of finallys with the release of the doc’s trailer.

Filmmaker Rory Karpf will use his in-depth research and gorgeous visuals to chart the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s journey from pro wrestling megastar to welterweight rookie:

Pro wrestling star CM Punk brings his unique skills to the UFC. From day one of his training camp to his home life with wife [April Brooks/AJ Lee] to unexpected setbacks, The Evolution of Punk follows the fighter on his journey to the Octagon.

“Unexpected setbacks” is an understatement. It took eighteen months from the date he signed with UFC to get a rock solid-announcement of his first fight. With nagging health issues, training, even back surgery, Punk’s debut took so long that Brock Lesnar beat him into the octagon without even leaving WWE.

That first fight will happen against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on September 10 in Cleveland. Until then, The Evolution of Punk is set to air in four parts starting Monday, August 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.
