You’re Going To Be Excited About Seth Rollins’ Dream WrestleMania Opponent

WWE Raw

It’s good to have Seth Rollins back, but it would have been even better if the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion could have participated in WrestleMania 32. If he were healthy, there’s a good chance Rollins would have been involved in his second consecutive WrestleMania main event against Roman Reigns, or perhaps faced off instead against Triple H.

As it stands, Rollins has technically had four WrestleMania matches, but two of them were six-man tag bouts with The Shield and one wasn’t even an entire match, as he interrupted the main event of Mania 31 for his Money in the Bank cash-in.

Hopefully, Rollins will be around for many WrestleManias to come, and there is a laundry list of wrestlers that we’d all love to see The Architect face off with. From Sami Zayn, to Kevin Owens, to Cesaro, there is a long list of opponents that fans would salivate at seeing Rollins go 20-25 minutes with in a WrestleMania environment, but there is one name in particular that Rollins himself has his eyes on.

During a recent Q&A session at Wizard World in Philadelphia, Rollins was asked by a fan who he would choose to face off against in a hypothetical WrestleMania main event. Rollins was given a choice between former Bullet Club leaders AJ Styles and Finn Bálor, and new B.C. recruit Adam Cole. While all three would be outstanding matches, there was one clear choice in Rollins’ mind.

“I don’t know, man. Finn would be cool, but for me, AJ would be my guy.

“When I was like 15, 16 years old, I used to scour the internet on dial-up, watching short little 30-second clips of AJ Styles. I would sit in my grandpa’s living room with my friends and we would order the NWA/TNA Wednesday evening pay-per-views from Nashville and I loved AJ Styles. He was awesome. I got the opportunity to wrestle him when I was 19 years old, and we haven’t crossed paths again until now.

“I think for he and I to main event WrestleMania would be a pretty awesome, fitting end to our stories.”

A year ago, the idea of AJ Styles main-eventing a WrestleMania would seem outrageous, but now it doesn’t seem nearly as far-fetched. Styles has exceeded any and all expectations in his first six months in WWE, already having multiple WWE title matches and main eventing two pay-per-views. With his recent heel turn on John Cena, Styles is once again in a high-profile spot heading into the summer. Meanwhile, Rollins is back at the top of the card after returning from injury.

While a WrestleMania match between the two would require someone turning face again, it certainly seems like it’s a possibility somewhere down the line, and I can only imagine what kind of match those two would pull off if given that spot.
