A Quick Note About The Theme Song For ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’

Brooklyn Nine-Nine wrapped up its excellent first season with a very excellent finale earlier this week. You are welcome to discuss either or both of those things below, possibly focusing on how funny it was when Andy Samberg tried to turn in his badge and gun and Andre Braugher wouldn’t let him. That is what I would discuss if I were discussing that. But I am not. I am discussing the theme song. Which I love.

I love it so much. It’s on the short list — the very short list — of shows with opening credits that I don’t zip through on DVR. (Also on the list: Parks & Recreation. Mike Schur has excellent taste in theme music.) (Oh, and this seems like a good time to remind you about the rap version of the Parks theme, which has about 150,000 views right now, of which I am probably responsible for 60,000-65,000.) I even accidentally created lyrics to it as the season went on. Kind of. I mean, they’re not so much “lyrics” as they are me just repeating the title of the show over and over again and pronouncing the punctuation to make it feat the beat. Here, look:

Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine!
Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine! (Brook-LYN!)

Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine, Yeah!
Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine!
Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine, Yeah!
Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine!

Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine!
Brooklyn Nine Dash Nine!

Brooklyn!
Nine Nine!

Good luck unhearing that. You are all very welcome.
