Bindi Irwin was a recognizable part of The Crocodile Hunter’s run with fame back in the early 2000s, up to his tragic demise in 2006. The young Irwin was only 8 years old at the time, but she has managed to carry on her father’s love of animals, despite the tragedy that took place.
Today Irwin is turning 17 years old and is making quite a splash online thanks to some photos she has tossed up on Instagram. As many have said, it’s safe to say that Irwin is all grown up:
Irwin’s image is accompanied by a quote on the meaning of beauty, but don’t take this as an example of Irwin joining the over-saturated Instagram divas that choke the headlines today. She has a very firm point of view on how young women should carry themselves as covered by US Weekly:
“I’m a big advocate for young girls dressing their age,” Irwin told News Corp Australia at the time. “I mean, for me, I look around at a lot of young girls that are my age and they’re always trying to dress older. Whether it’s wearing revealing clothes or hardly wearing any clothes at all, I feel really bad for them. It kind of has the opposite effect in some ways – it kind of does the opposite where it makes you look younger and like you’re trying too hard,” she said.
Aside from selfies, Irwin is also using her account to help spread awareness about animals that need help and the touching moments she shared with her family, including her father, as a child. It is nice to see she’s doing well and keeping the spirit alive.
It’s also nice to see she’s not out there being bitten by snakes or going crazy on late night TV shows. That’d be hard to replicate.
